Can I use Google Maps?

Google Maps as map provider

Currently it is not possible to use Google Maps as a map provider. The Open User Map plugin is based on Leaflet and Open Street Map as map providers. These services are 100% free to use and don’t require any API keys or registration process.

Using the address search bar on top of the map to find places.

However – there are some cases when the address search (see image) doesn’t work as good as expected. The underlaying search engine (OSM) can’t compete with Google Maps address search capabilities. This happens especially in more rural areas.

Future plans

There have been several feature requests to get Google Maps as address search engine implemented as well. So this will eventually become available with an upcoming update.
